The Abbey of Gethsemani is having a Labor Day Come and See weekend. What’s required?

The Come and See weekend is open to single men between the ages of 18 and 35. Participants must be Roman Catholic and enjoy good health of mind and body.  Event Schedule

Friday, September 1 – arrival in the afternoon before 3:00 p.m.

Sunday, September 3  –  departure anytime Sunday afternoon  (or stay until Monday morning, September 4).

Travel details (including airport or bus pickup if needed) will be supplied by Fr. Anton.

A detailed schedule will be available upon arrival.

What To Expect

Attend the “Hours” of prayer in choir with the monks.

Tour the monks’ workplaces.

Walk the abbey’s extensive lands and enjoy the scenic knobs of Kentucky.

Join the monks in Chapter Room on Sunday for the Abbot’s weekly spiritual talk.

There will be sessions for listening to others to see how God has worked in their lives, including a visit to Thomas Merton’s hermitage with our monks in formation.

There is no charge to participate, but space is limited. Respond early to ensure a place on the weekend experience.
